Ebola virus disease

Ebola virus disease (EVD, formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever) is an acute viral infectious disease caused by the Ebola virus (EBOV) of the filoviridae family. Ebola virus is one of the most fierce diseases in the world, with a fatality rate of 90%. There have been multiple outbreaks of scale. It is transmitted mainly through contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected animals or humans. Seriously ill patients require intensive supportive care. During the epidemic, health workers, family members and others who have close contact with the patient or the dead face a higher risk of infection.
