Elderly Influenza
Influenza (influenza for short) is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza virus. Clinically, it is characterized by protruding fever, muscle soreness, and mild respiratory symptoms. The course is short and self-limiting. It can occur locally or widely. Elderly influenza patients are prone to pneumonia, and the prognosis is often severe in those who are elderly, frail, or have heart and lung disease. Older people over the age of 60 have a higher incidence and are more ill. Older people are more likely to die from the virus than other ages. The elderly, children and patients with chronic diseases should be the key population for the prevention and control of seasonal influenza.
