Appendix tumor
Appendiceal tumors are rare and generally asymptomatic. They are often found during abdominal surgery or autopsy. The former are mostly malignant, while the latter are mostly benign. Sometimes, acute appendicitis can be caused by blocking the appendix. A hard spherical mass that touches the appendix, with a yellow or grayish section, should be highly suspect. Adenocarcinoids are more malignant than general carcinoids, with metastasis occurring in 15%.
