Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy
Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy of newborn (HIE) refers to the neonatal brain injury caused by hypoxia and reduced cerebral blood flow caused by various reasons. The brain tissue is edema, softening, necrosis and bleeding. As the main disease, it is one of the important complications of neonatal asphyxia and one of the common causes of neurological disability in children. Severe cases often have sequelae, such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation, epilepsy, deafness, and visual impairment. This disease is not only a serious threat to the life of the newborn, but also one of the most common causes of postnatal disability.
