Conjunctival congestion reveals yellow pus
The inflamed meibomian glands are surrounded by strong meibomian tissue. A yellow pus is often faintly exposed on the conjunctival surface of the congested eyelid, which may pierce and drain the pus on its own. Conjunctival conjunctiva congestion to expose yellow pus is one of the clinical manifestations of stye. Stye is commonly known as needle eye, which is an acute purulent inflammation of the sebaceous glands or meibomian glands near the eyelashes and hair follicles. There are two kinds of glands in the eyelid. The sebaceous glands at the root of the eyelashes are called hair follicles. The other type is called the meibomian glands which are buried in the meibomian near the surface of the combined membrane. Stye is an acute purulent inflammation of these two glands. The bacteria that cause stye are mostly Staphylococcus aureus, so the stye is mostly purulent inflammation.
