True eyeball

The true small eyeball (nanophthalmos) is that during the development of the fetus, the eyeball stops developing after the embryonic fissure is closed, and the eyeball volume is smaller than normal without other congenital malformations. Typical small eyeballs have clinical features such as small eyeballs, small cornea, shallow anterior chamber, narrow atrial angle, thick sclera, normal lens size or spherical lens, and macular dysplasia. Therefore, it has a tendency to develop angle-closure glaucoma and spontaneous uveal leakage with increasing age, and the treatment effect is poor, so it is a potentially damaging eye disease. Improper treatment can cause blindness.
