Primary thrombocytosis in the elderly
Primary thrombocytosis is a clonal disease characterized by abnormal proliferation of megakaryocytes characterized by thrombocytosis, abnormal morphology and function. The main clinical features are significant, persistent increase in platelets of unknown cause, and a tendency to hemorrhage and thrombosis. More than half have splenomegaly.
