Adenosine deaminase

The adenosine deaminase (ADA) system is named adenosine aminohydrolase, which mainly catalyzes adenosine and deoxyadenosine to produce hypoxanthine nucleoside and ammonia, which is one of the important enzyme systems for adenine catabolism. ADA is widely distributed in all human tissues, with the small intestinal mucosa and spleen being the highest, followed by liver, kidney, bone, and skeletal muscle. Intracellular ADA is mainly located in the cytoplasm, and ADA activity is higher in white blood cells than in red blood cells.
