Drop test

The drop test is that when the cerebral hemisphere is damaged, the muscle strength and muscle tension of the contralateral limbs are reduced to varying degrees, and the muscle strength and muscle tension of the ipsilateral limbs are normal. Patients with mild to moderate coma can still maintain a certain muscle tension on the ipsilateral limb, while the contralateral limb is significantly reduced. When the patient is comatose or uncooperative, it is not possible to take active exercise to check muscle strength, nor to take a sitting or standing position to check muscle tone. Using a drop test to check the patient's muscle tone can determine whether the coma is caused by cerebrovascular disease.
