McCartney test

The reduction of muscle strength is usually not obvious when there is a slight extrapyramidal injury. The patient will try his best to complete the active exercise. Therefore, it is not easy to detect a slight decrease in muscle strength. The patient's limbs are passively raised, and the support force is suddenly removed after the attention is transferred. The limbs with normal innervation will reflexively maintain the original posture, and the limbs with decreased muscle strength will fall coldly. McCartney's test is one way to check for paresis in the lower limbs.
