Erythrocyte phosphoglycerol converting enzyme

Phosphoglycerol invertase is a converting enzyme for red blood cells. Red blood cell enzymes play an important role in regulating red blood cell metabolism. Deficiency of enzymes leads to reduced energy supply and shortened red blood cell life to cause hemolytic anemia. In the past these diseases were called congenital non-spherical erythrocyte hemolytic anemia. The lack of mpgm is still being explored.
