Mycoplasma infection in pregnancy

Mycoplasma infection during pregnancy can cause serious complications such as late abortion, premature or stillbirth. Mycoplasma is the smallest microorganism that can live independently without a cell wall between bacteria and viruses. There are about 12 to 14 species of Mycoplasma infecting humans. Among them, Mycoplasma humanis and Ureaplasma urealyticum are most commonly isolated by female genital tract. MH infection often causes vaginitis, cervicitis, and salpingitis, while UU causes non-gonococcal urethritis. Mycoplasma mostly coexist with the host, do not show symptoms of infection, can cause opportunistic infection only under certain conditions, and often combine with other pathogens to cause disease. Recently found that Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP), Mycoplasma genitalium (MG), etc. can also cause mother and child infection.
