Tympanic repair

Tympanoplasty, also known as tympanic membrane repair, is a procedure that uses tissue transplantation to repair tympanic membrane perforations. Its purpose is to improve hearing and prevent middle ear infections caused by perforation of the eardrum. The tympanic membrane has a small perforation and it is confirmed that the ossicular chain is normal. The tympanic membrane can be healed only by corrosion and patching. This type of tympanic membrane repair is outside the scope of tympanic angioplasty discussed in this section.
