Artificial corneal transplantation

Artificial cornea refers to artificial corneal endothelium, which is a layer of corneal endothelial cells that can be transplanted in vitro using artificial methods. Tissue engineered human corneal endothelium (abbreviated as artificial corneal endothelium) developed by the Corneal Tissue Engineering Laboratory of Ocean University of China has successfully completed corneal transplantation experiments in rabbits, cats and monkeys. ——The corneal endothelium can already be “manufactured” artificially, and it is expected to enter clinical trials at the end of 2010 or early 2011. The results of this research will effectively alleviate the reality of corneal scarcity in medical eyes.
