Mucopolysaccharide test

Urine mucopolysaccharide detection is commonly used as a screening for mucopolysaccharidosis using the aniline blue color method. Positive people use cellulose acetate membrane electrophoresis to distinguish the type of mucopolysaccharide excreted in urine to assist in typing. Abnormal results: Normal development after birth, signs gradually appear before 1 year old. Stunted after 1 year of age, skeletal deformities gradually become apparent. The head is large, the forehead is prominent, and the skull is scaphoid. Short neck, posterior process of lower chest and upper lumbar spine. The bridge of the nose is flat and wide, the lips are large and valgus, the tongue is open, the teeth are thin and small, and the gums are thick. Rough face, indifferent expression, backward intelligence. The hair is rough and black. Most have joint contractures, palms and fingers wide and short, knees, hips valgus, and flat feet. Abdominal swelling, hepatosplenomegaly, or hernia, normal liver function.
