Oculomotor palsy

When the oculomotor nerve is paralyzed, drooping of the upper eyelid occurs, exotropia and diplopia occur due to restricted inward, upward, and downward movement of the eyeball, and dilated pupils, and the adjustment and convergence reflexes disappear. The periodic phenomenon is caused by the rhythmic impulses occurring in the midbrain autonomic nerve center directly on the oculomotor nerve.
