Deterioration of psychomotor activity

Deterioration of psychomotor activity: There are two types of delirium based on changes in psychomotor activity. The subtype of hypoactivity is characterized by mental retardation, and patients with drowsiness and reduced arousal. Hyperactive subtypes are often overly alert and agitated, and have hyperactive hyperactivity. In addition, hyperactive subtypes are most commonly associated with delusions and perceptual disorders such as hallucinations. About half of patients with delirium are of mixed type, with components of two subtypes or fluctuating between types. Only about 15% of patients are strictly hyperactive. Younger, hyperactive subtypes and those whose causes are related to drug abuse have a shorter hospital stay and a better prognosis.
