Calf muscle pain and tenderness

Pain and tenderness of the calf muscles are characteristic manifestations of venous thrombosis. Venous thrombosis is an acute non-purulent inflammation of the veins and is accompanied by secondary vascular lumen thrombosis. The lesions mainly involve the superficial veins of the extremities or the deep veins of the lower extremities. Its clinical features are local swollen pain in the affected limb, subcutaneous palpable and tender cords, or superficial varicose veins with distal lesions such as obstruction of venous return. May cause pulmonary embolism due to thrombus shedding.
