Pleural thickening adhesions

Pulmonary tuberculosis, pleurisy, and chest injury patients often have effusions in the pleural cavity. Once the fibrin in the effusion deposits on the pleura, it can lead to thickening of the pleura. It gradually adheres, or there is hyperplasia of granulation tissue in the pleural cavity, which can also cause pleural thickening and even adhesion.
