SARS

Infectious atypical pneumonia (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, SARS) is a special pneumonia caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV), which is contagious and can affect multiple organ systems. It was named severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Clinically, systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, headache, and sore muscles and joint pain, as well as systemic symptoms such as dry cough, chest tightness, fatigue, headache, and muscle and joint soreness, and respiratory symptoms such as dry cough, chest tightness, and dyspnea are the main manifestations. Some cases may have diarrhea Gastrointestinal symptoms; chest X-ray examination shows inflammatory infiltrates in the lungs, laboratory tests of normal or decreased peripheral white blood cell counts, and ineffective antibacterial treatment are its important features. Severe cases show significant dyspnea and can quickly develop into acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). As of August 7, 2003, the cumulative number of cases worldwide was 8,422, and the average mortality rate based on reported cases reached 9.3%.
