Spina bifida

Spina bifida refers to a congenital insufficiency of the spinal canal, a crack is formed on the back or ventral side of the spine, with or without deformities of the spinal membrane and nerve components. Such malformations are very common clinically, accounting for 5% to 29% of the census population. Among them, they occur in the 1st and 2nd sacral vertebrae and the 5th lumbar vertebrae. The main reason for this is the developmental disorder of the cartilage center or osteogenesis center during the embryonic stage, so that the bilateral vertebral arches do not fuse at the back and form wide and narrow fissures. Those with simple bony fissures are called recessive spina bifida and are most common; if they are accompanied by meningeal or spinal bulge, they are dominant spina bifida, accounting for 1 ‰ to 2 ‰, which is very difficult to treat, Most belong to the category of neurosurgery.
