Alcoholic neuropathy

There are some important reasons to think that acetaldehyde does not play an important role in alcoholism. The main factor in alcoholism is ethanol itself, not its metabolites. Alcohol that is not oxidatively metabolized in the stomach wall and liver is quickly distributed in various tissues and body fluids, and the effect on tissue function depends on the concentration of ethanol in the blood. There are many neurological diseases related to acute or chronic alcoholism. Of course, the commonality of these diseases is alcohol abuse, but the mechanism of nerve damage caused by alcohol is different in different diseases.
