Cartilage hypoplasia

Achondroplasia is also called chondrodystrophia fetalis, chondrodystrophic dwarfism, etc. It is a congenital abnormality due to defects in ossification of cartilage, which mainly affects long bones. It is clinically manifested as a special type of dwarf-short-limb dwarf. Intellectual and physical development is good, the patient often acts as an acrobatic clown in a theater or circus. Warkany has estimated that there are about 65,000 patients with cartilage hypoplasia dwarfism worldwide, indicating that this deformity is more common.
