Potassium permanganate poisoning

Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidant. It has a disinfecting and astringent effect at low concentrations, and a stimulating and corrosive effect at high concentrations. Pediatric poisoning is often caused by its crystals being eaten as a carbohydrate or drinking its solution by accident. Occasionally, a high-concentration solution of gastric lavage is used to rescue the poisoning and cause poisoning.
