Pulmonary cryptococcosis

Pulmonary cryptococcosis is a subacute or chronic visceral fungal disease caused by a new type of cryptococcal infection. This fungus is a saprophytic yeast that does not form hyphae and spores and is widely present in nature. The body's low immune function is the main cause of the disease. Most of the bacteria are inhaled into the body from the respiratory tract and form infections in the lungs. It mainly affects the lungs and central nervous system, but can also affect bones, skin, mucous membranes and other organs. Healthy people may heal themselves after infection or the lesions are confined to the lungs without clinical symptoms. When the resistance is reduced, it causes disease and can spread to the whole body through blood. The central nervous system is most easily affected, so it often suffers from cryptococcal meningitis and pneumonia.
