Cervical hyperextension injury

Cervical spine hyperextension injury is a cervical spinal cord injury caused by cervical hyperextensional violence, usually with minor or hidden bone damage, and there are no abnormal signs on X-rays. Cervical spine hyperextension injury can also be called "whiplash injury". In recent years, due to the emergence of highways and the continuous increase in vehicle speed, such injuries have been increasing. Those with insufficient clinical experience are prone to miss or misdiagnose them, which should be taken seriously. Most of the injured people have residual sequelae, especially the influence of the hand function. The main pathological and anatomical changes of cervical hyperextension injury are located at the central canal of the spinal cord, so it is also called "central spinal syndrome".
