Fracture of tibiofibular shaft

Fractures of the tibiofibular shaft account for approximately 9.45% of systemic fractures. Children under the age of 10 are particularly common, with double tibia and fibula fractures accounting for 5.1% of total body fractures, followed by tibia and 3.85% of total body fractures. Fibula shaft fractures account for at least 0.59% of systemic fractures. Although the treatment is relatively easy and there is no obvious dysfunction, if it is not handled properly, people may have complications such as infection, slow healing or non-healing, and even severe consequences of amputation. Therefore, the tibiofibular shaft fracture should be treated carefully.
