Enterotoxic E.coli infection

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli infection is an intestinal infectious disease caused by Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli enteritis (ETEC). ETEC is a group of diarrhea-causing Escherichia coli newly discovered in the stools of human cholera-like patients recently. It is one of the main pathogens of diarrhea in infants and tourists in developing countries. In Bangladesh, diarrhea caused by ETEC accounts for 30% to 60% of all diarrhea, forming a regional epidemic. The disease was first discovered in China in 1982.
