Bone marrow anemia

Bone marrow anemia is anemia caused by abnormal or non-hematopoietic cell infiltration and replacement of normal bone marrow. This type of anemia is characterized by the appearance of normal pigments, unevenly sized red blood cells on the blood smear, and abnormal red blood cells and nucleated red blood cells, as well as immature granulocytes. These changes can occur when the bone marrow is replaced by invasive cancer, granulomatous or lipid-deposited lesions, or fibrosis of the bone marrow.
