Chromobacterium

Chromobacteria is caused by a class of gram-negative microbacilli that do not produce spores. Germs are found in water and soil, as well as in blood from contaminated blood banks. There is often a clear history of exposure, with several people in the family becoming ill. The number of rashes is numerous and occurs in the trunk. In severe cases, a wavy abscess or localized cellulitis is found on the skin, accompanied by lymphatic and lymphadenitis. In severe cases, it can cause fatal sepsis. The diagnosis is mainly based on bacteriological examination. Tetracycline, chloramphenicol, and streptomycin are effective.
