Bronchopulmonary isolation

Bronchopulmonary isolation (bronchopulmonary sequestration) is a congenital abnormal development of the lung, which isolates the lung tissue from normal lung tissue by pleura to separate it, and receives systemic arterial blood supply, including both intralobular and extralobular. It occurs in the early stage of embryonic development, and may be accompanied by other types of congenital malformations, such as bronchoesophageal diverticulum, diaphragmatic hernia and skeletal abnormalities.
