Filariasis

Hyalohyphomycosis is a group of infectious diseases that are histologically characterized by hyphae caused by non-dark fungi. Generally not seen in HE staining, red or black hyphae can be seen only in PAS or silver staining. In 1982, Ajello and McGinnis proposed the name of the disease corresponding to filariasis. The significance of these two disease names is that they can continuously accommodate new pathogenic fungi without the need to establish disease names for each new species. However, it has been named after the pathogenic bacteria and is widely used by people such as aspergillosis.
