Amylase

The full name of amylase (AMY or AMS) is 1,4- & alpha; -D-glucan hydrolase, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of starch and glycogen to generate glucose, maltose, and dextrin containing & alpha; 1,6-glycoside linkages . Amylase is mainly secreted by the pancreas and salivary glands, and it is also contained in lung, liver, thyroid, and adipose tissues. Its measurement is mainly colorimetric method and rate method.
