Folate

Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin. It does not exist in nature and is not biologically active, but it is a precursor of biologically active folate. Folate is widely present in nature, and it is found in plants and animals. It is rich in liver, kidney, green leafy vegetables, potatoes, and wheat bran. Folic acid can transfer a carbon group (methyl or formyl) to deoxyuridine, making it into deoxythymidylate, and then synthesize DNA.
