Serum laminin

Human laminin is a non-collagenous structural protein in the extracellular matrix. It is mainly synthesized in the liver by endothelial cells, stem cells and fat storage cells, which is a major component of the basement membrane. It plays a key role in the assembly of the basement membrane, forming a network structure on the cell surface and fixing the cells to the basement membrane. During liver fibrosis, human laminin combines with type IV collagen to form an endothelial basement membrane, leading to fibrosis. Determination of serum human laminin is one of the important indicators to observe the degree of fibrosis of liver tissue in patients with chronic hepatitis.
