Estrone

Estrone is mainly synthesized by ovarian granulosa cells in women, and a small amount is generated after conversion of androstenedione. Male estrone is mainly derived from androstenedione, and a small amount is secreted directly from the testes. Detection of estrone is of great value for understanding the endocrine function of the ovary and judging whether women of childbearing age have ovulation function. In normal reproductive age women, plasma estrone and estradiol concentrations change in parallel throughout the menstrual cycle. After menopause, estrogen levels decrease and plasma estradiol decreases more than estrone.
