Light transmission test

A transillumination test is a method used to detect disease. Clinically, it is used for the differential diagnosis of hydrocele and oblique hernia. The method is to use a flashlight to shine directly under the scrotum in a dark room. If the scrotum contains liquid, it transmits light, otherwise it does not. 
