Serum 5'-nucleotidase

5'-nucleotidase (5'-NT) is a substrate-specific hydrolase, which can act on a variety of nucleotides. This enzyme is widely present in human tissues, such as liver, gall, intestine, brain, heart, pancreas, etc. Localized on the cytoplasmic membrane, this enzyme is mainly found in the bile ducts and sinusoidal membranes in the liver. The 5'-NT measurement is mainly colorimetric, which is cumbersome to operate and difficult to automate, but reagents are readily available and suitable for basic unit applications.
