Serum myoglobin

Serum myoglobin (Mb) is one of the earliest markers of elevation in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The blood concentration can be increased in 2 to 4 hours, and almost 6 to 10 hours in all patients with AMI. It is especially helpful for the diagnosis of early AMI. It can return to normal within 24 hours of onset, so Mb-negative is particularly helpful in excluding the infarct extension during the course of AMI. The immunoturbidimetric method can complete the determination within 10min.
