Platelet life
Platelet survival time (PLS): thromboxane B2 (TXB2) is one of the main products of the platelet arachidonic acid metabolic pathway cyclooxygenase. Aspirin irreversibly inhibits platelet cyclooxygenase until bone marrow megakaryocytes produce new platelets. Therefore, observation of TXB2 recovery of platelets after taking aspirin can infer the survival time of platelets.
