Plasminogen

Plasminogen is an inactive precursor of plasma fibrinolytic enzymes. T-PA, urokinase, or a variety of enzymes at the coagulation contact stage are activated by tissue activators. Exogenous activators such as streptokinase can also activate. Plasminase degrades fibrin and fibrinogen and keeps the blood vessels and glandular ducts open. Further research has found that plasmin function also includes collagenase-promoting activities and plays an auxiliary role in nutrition and cell migration.
