Patella osteochondrosis

This disease, also known as Sinding-Larsen disease, was reported by Sinding, Larsen, and Johansson in 1921 and 1922, respectively. It is considered to be osteochondrosis caused by excessive tension or pressure on the upper and lower patella. Occurs in adolescents who are fiercely active at the age of 10-14. Males are more common than females, often on one side, more common on the right side, and occasionally bilateral onset. Involves the inferior metatarsal pole, often coexisting with tibial tuberculous osteochondrosis. This disease is also known as patella osteitis, growth patella, and adolescent patella.
