Electromechanical separation

Electromechanical separation refers to a syndrome in which the effective cardiac output is lost due to different pathophysiological processes, but the ECG can be normal or close to normal. This syndrome can be caused by a sudden and dramatic reduction in left ventricular preload, leading to secondary heart failure, or due to primary myocardial failure, so that the contractile response to normal electrical excitation is lost. It is divided into two types: primary and secondary electromechanical separation. A heart rupture can also cause electromechanical separation.
