Facial muscle spasm, also known as facial muscle convulsion or hemifacial spasm, is a functional disorder caused by the stimulation of a lateral nerve. It is mostly one side, and there are very few patients with bilateral disease, accounting for about 4%. The patients were mostly adults over 40 years old, with a male to female ratio of 2: 3. The incidence rate is about 64 / 100,000 in the population. Stocks has reported that 13 of a generation are sick, but not a genetic disease. This disease has been recorded in our medical book "Study of Yaohan" as early as the 16th century. However, because of its unknown etiology and pathology, it has long been regarded as incurable. The disease is rarely discussed in otology, and it has not been thoroughly studied until the ear neurosurgery has been extensively performed in the past 20 years, making it an important disease in otology.
