Cough rusty sputum

Crust rusty sputum is common in lobar pneumonia. Lobar pneumonia is mainly caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. The lesions involve more than one lung segment, and acute inflammation is mainly caused by diffuse cellulose exudation in the alveoli. The lesions started in local alveoli and quickly spread to one lung segment or the entire lobe. The clinical onset is rapid, often beginning with high fever and chills, followed by chest pain, cough, rusty sputum, difficulty breathing, signs of pulmonary consolidation, and increased peripheral white blood cell counts. The course of the disease was about one week, the temperature dropped sharply, and the symptoms disappeared. The disease mostly occurs in young men. Common causes of illness include cold, fatigue, or rain. It belongs to the categories of "wind temperature" and "pulmonary dysentery" in Chinese medicine.
