Digestive Diverticulopathy

Digestive diverticulosis refers to a local cystic bulge of the digestive tract, which can be either true or false. The former refers to full-layer bulge, while the latter has only mucosa and submucosa without muscle layer bulge. Most diverticulum bulges outside the gastrointestinal tract, and very few bulges into the cavity. The presence of multiple diverticula at the same time is called diverticulosis. The disease is found in the whole digestive tract, with the colon as the most common, duodenum second, and the gastric diverticulum the least common. Symptoms or complications of diverticulosis are called symptomatic diverticulum or diverticulosis and require treatment.
