Chest wall collapse
Chest wall collapse: Extrapleural thoracoplasty is the removal of group ribs under the periosteum to collapse the local chest wall to reduce the thoracic cavity in this area. The ribs regenerated from the periosteum will maintain local chest wall collapse 6-8 weeks after surgery, so that the chest cavity will always shrink. Chronic empyema is often used for thoracotomy.
