Heterologous ACTH

Heterogenous ACTH is caused by the inappropriate synthesis and secretion of biologically active hormones by tumors and causes corresponding clinical symptoms and signs. Originally named "ectopic" endocrine syndrome. Almost all non-endocrine tissues can produce small amounts of different peptide hormones and hormone precursors. Non-endocrine tumor-hormonal endocrine syndrome is not an "ectopic" hormone production. It is a cancer-induced cell characteristic that is normally present in tissues derived from cancer Enlarged and renamed "heterologous" endocrine syndrome.
