Orthostatic urinary protein

Orthostatic or upright urinary protein refers to an increase in urinary protein excretion only in the upright position or in a forward spine position, while the urinary protein output is normal in the supine position. It can be divided into temporary (or intermittent) and fixed according to whether or not the urinary protein in the upright position often appears. The former means that the urinary protein does not necessarily increase every time when the erected position is in the upright position. More than normal. Orthostatic urinary protein is more common, and can be seen in 2% to 5% of adolescents. Most of the asymptomatic urinary proteins found in population censuses belong to this category. Among them, 70% to 80% are temporary and 15% to 20% are fixed.
