Femoral supracondylar fracture

The femoral supracondylar fracture is a fracture that occurs within 5cm above and below the femoral condyle, and should not include the internal and external condylar fractures and intercondylar fractures (AO type A distal femoral fracture). The supracondylar fractures are generally extracapsular fractures, while the sacroiliac fractures (type B fractures of the distal femur) and intercondylar fractures are intracapsular fractures. However, supracondylar fractures and intercondylar fractures often affect each other, also known as supracondylar fractures or C-type fractures of the distal femur.
